On February 21, 2023, the Branch of the Hellenic Foundation for Culture hosted a visiting meeting of the IMPULSE Literary Hub of Centralized Library Systems for Children and Adults in Odesa with the participation of the heads of 40 municipal libraries.
During the meeting, the staff of the BHFC introduced the librarians to the activities of the foundation, as well as to the development of library science and the peculiarities of the library system in the Hellenic Republic. At the invitation of the HFC branch, leading Ukrainian experts gave lectures on the role of Greeks in the cultural development of Odesa (Olena Uvarova, Associate Professor of Odesa National Medical University) and modern Greek literature and its translations into Ukrainian (Andrii Savenko, Associate Professor of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Director of the Andrii Biletskyi Center for Hellenistic Studies and Greek Culture).
In addition, the librarians of Odesa were introduced to the collections of prose and poetry by a young Ukrainian writer of Greek origin, Ksenia Antoniadi (pseudonym Ksenia Kazka) from the city of Nova Odesa, Mykolaiv region. Finally, the Foundation’s library hosted a presentation of books published by the BHFC over the past 20 years, and a significant number of these publications were donated to the municipal libraries.
