The year 2011 has been declared ‘Elytis Year’ by the Ministry of Culture on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of Nobel laureate poet Odysseas Elytis.

The Odessa Branch of the HFC will organize a series of events in honour of the poet. The events aim to introduce to the Odessa audience the poet and his work.
The tribute is planned to last for over a month.

The programme includes:
13 October, 2011 – An exhibition in a digital format presenting the literary and art work of the poet.

27 October, 2011 – Literary and musical evening with works based on Elytis’ poetry in Greek and Russian with the participation of the choir of the HFC Branch.

3 November, 2011 – Lecture by the senior lecturer of the world literature of Odessa Mechnikov National University, Malinovskii Artur, on the theme: “Odysseas Elytis. Poet and epoch: edge of the poetic talent”.

During the exhibition (13/10/2011-7/11/2011) screenings of documentaries for example “Times and Writers – Odysseas Elytis” by Tassos Psaras (ERT production) and others will be shown.
