Examinations for the International Certificate of Proficiency in Greek Language

Since 2001, the Branch of the HFC has been functioning as a Greek Language Examination Centre authorized by the Centre of Modern Greek Language in Thessaloniki under the Hellenic Ministry of Education, which issues internationally recognized certificates of proficiency in Greek language for several levels of comprehension. The Centre of Modern Greek Language has announced that this year the certificate examinations in Greece and abroad shall take place on May 16-18, 2017.

The registration will be opened from February 1 until March 19 2017 at the Branch of the Hellenic Foundation for Culture in Odessa. The examinations are scheduled as follows:

May 16
Level A1 (age 8-12) Elementary Knowledge
Level A1 (age 12+) Elementary Knowledge
Level A2 Basic Knowledge
Level B1 Intermediate Knowledge

May 17
Level B2 Advanced Knowledge
Level G1 Very Good Knowledge

May 18
Level G2 Excellent Knowledge

Written exams will be followed by oral ones. Each level of proficiency requires specific mode of communication and knowledge of Greek language.

Persons in the age of 8+ (as of May 31, 2017) are considered eligible for the examination. For the Level A1 examination are also eligible children of foreign subjects, if they are 8 years of age or will reach the age of 12 by May 31, 2017. Please, be aware that persons under 16 years of age are not eligible for taking exams for Levels B2, G1 and G2 because the content of examination subjects require knowledge and experience not yet acquired by juveniles.
