The Branch of the Hellenic Foundation for Culture in Odessa presents a programme in co-operation with Odessa’s Prefectural Peace Committee within the framework of the events organized each year for Easter by the Committee.

The programme includes:
– A concert by the Branch’s choir with Easter chants. Presentation of the song “Greek Easter” in co-operation with the Greek soprano of the Odessa Philharmonic

Orchestra Aglaia Polyhronidis.
– Students following Greek language courses at the University of Odessa and HFC’s Branch will present Easter food traditions from various parts of Greece.
– Screening of the documentary film “Easter is in the Air. Faith, Love and hope in Nissyros, 1999” by Eleni Alexandraki.

Eleni Alexandraki was born in Athens in 1957. She studied cinema in France and England (Sorbonne Paris I, National Film and TV School). She has directed many award-winning films, fiction and documentaries, feature length and shorts. The films “A drop in the ocean” and “The woman who missed home” were widely acclaimed in Greece and abroad. For the past twenty years she lives between Athens and Nissyros where she collaborates creatively with the island’s inhabitants.
