On October 23rd 2014 at 16:00 the Branch of the HFC will host a lecture by Prof. Inna Golubovich from Odessa National I.I. Mechnikov University entitled “Georgy Florovsky (1893-1979), a prominent theologian and philosopher: a path that started in Odessa”.

Life of Georgy Florovsky, one of the most prominent Orthodox thinkers of the twentieth century, can be divided into three major periods: Odessan (1894-1920), European (1920-1948) and Ameriacan (1948-1979). In the United States Florovsky becomes professor in St Vladimir Seminary and gives lectures in theology in universities throughout the country, including Harvard University and Princeton University. He took active part in Ecumenism and became one of the founders of the World Council of Churches and chaired in the National Council of Churches of the USA. The lecture by Prof. Inna Golubovich will focus on some unexpected findings from personal archives of Georgy Florovsky she made during her visit to USA as a Fulbright scholar.
