The Department of Nationalities and Religion of the Odessa Region State Administration, the Consulate General of Greece in Odessa, the Odessa Branch of the Hellenic Foundation for Culture, the History Faculty of the Odessa National University, the Odessa Marasli Greek community organize the scientific conference “The Greeks in the North of the Black Sea Area: history and culture, XVIII – beginning of the XXI cent.” and the IV Marasli Readings.
During the conference 32 reports, disclosing many aspects of the development and activities of the Greek Diaspora of the Black Sea Area (XVIII – beginning of the XXI cent.), will be heard and discussed by the scientists and professors from HEI of Ukraine and Russia (Kiev, Odessa, Berdiansk, Simferopol, Sevastopol, Kryzhopol, Donetsk, Izmail, Zaporozhye, Saint Petersburg, Taganrog).
According to the topics the reports will be considered into 5 sections:
- Marasli Readings;
- History of the Greeks of Ukraine;
- Sources by the history and culture of the Greeks of Ukraine;
- Ethnology of the Greeks of Ukraine;
- Modern processes in the Greek environment of Ukraine.
The conference will be held in November 18-19, 2010 at the Odessa Branch of the HFC.
The entrance is free for all comers.
