The work of a team of youth from the G. Maraslis Greek Society of Odessa (Elisa Dzhenchako, Anastasia Telly, Natalia Telly, Irina Yuzlenko and Elena Kablikova) has been selected the first-prize winner of the 2017 contest “In the footsteps of Nikos Kazantzakis” held in the framework of celebration the Year of Nikos Kazantzakis. The group of 40 Ukrainian creators of the prize-winning works are awarded with a trip to the Island of Crete, the homeland of Nikos Kazantzakis, where they will visit the heart of the former Minoan civilization – the Palace of Knossos as well as the Cave of Zeus, the Samaria Gorge, the city of Heraklion and many other interesting places.
The visitors will also meet with and present their works before city mayors and even the President of Greek Republic Mr. Prokopis Pavlopoulos. Three best works will be recognized with special prizes from the President.

P.S. Winners of the Arts Contest among young ethnic Greeks from countries of the former USSR dedicated to the memory of Nikos Kazantzakis were selected in Iraklion (Crete, Greece). The first prize went a piece from Erevan (Armenia), the second one to that from Mariupol (Ukraine) and the third one to a piece from Odessa (Ukraine). On July 29, 2017 the winners were awarded with their prizes by the President of Greek Republic Mr. Prokopis Pavlopoulos.
