July 21, 2018, in Odessa took place the closing of the 9th International Film Festival participated by contestants from 95 countries, including Greece. Overall, 1011 films were presented at the festival, of which 752 competed in the international program.
The jury unanimously selected the Greek-Polish film “Pity” as the best film of the international program. Its director, Babis Makridis, received the Golden Duke Prize as the best film director.
By the way, Makridis is one of the scriptwriters of “Lobster”, the film by Giorgos Lanthimos that received the Grand Prix of the Cannes Film Festival in 2015. Makridis received the British Independent Film Award for Best Screenplay.
