On September 1-3, 2020, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Greece to Ukraine Vasilis Bornovas paid a working visit to Odessa.
During the visit, the Ambassador visited the Branch of the HFC, where Director S. Paradeisopoulos informed him about the activities of the branch, the plans for the renovation of the museum “Filiki Etearia”.
Mr. Bornovas and Mr. Paradeisopoulos also visited the Archaeological Museum of Odessa and the Museum of Eastern and Western Art, as well as the Odessa National Scientific Library, with which the BHFC has been fruitfully cooperating for many years.
During the meeting with the management in the library, the parties discussed the ways of cooperation, among which a special attention was paid to the prospects for digitizing old newspapers published in Odessa in Greek language at the beginning of the 20th century. The guests of honor were introduced to the history of the library, which is the oldest public library in Ukraine. The guests examined the renewed exposition of the department of rare publications and manuscripts, visited the department of arts, got acquainted with the current work of the library and its participation in international projects.
At the end of his visit to the library, Mr. Ambassador left an entry in the Book of Honorary Guests.
