On April 10, 2021, the Greek Society of Kharkiv “Helios”, in cooperation with the Research Library of the V. Karazin National University of Kharkiv, within the framework of celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution, opened a photographic exhibition about the life and creative works of Yiannis Ritsos (1909-1990), a decent follower of the talented Greek poets such as D. Solomos, K. Cavafis and K. Varnalis whose poetry embodies the living spirit of freedom, the struggle of the Greeks for freedom and independence at different times of history of Hellas.
Yiannis Ritsos is an outstanding Greek poet of the twentieth century, a playwright, a member of the anti-fascist resistance during the Second World War, the winner of international prizes “for strengthening the peace between the peoples” and the UN Prize.
