On April 19, 2019, a grand opening of the exhibition “Intangible Cultural Heritage of Greece” was held at the Branch of the Hellenic Foundation for Culture.
The exhibition prepared jointly with the Directorate of Modern Cultural Heritage of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports introduces folk customs, rites, dances, music, songs, handicrafts and technologies that are part of the Greek cultural identity and are listed in the National Inventory of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Greece and the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity (UNESCO). In addition to information tablets, the exhibition also presents original items and products related to individual elements of intangible cultural heritage, such as olive soap from Corfu, edible mastic products from Chios, textiles from Crete and wooden puppets of the Karagiosis shadow theater.
At the exhibition opening, welcome addresses and speeches were presented by Mr. Spiridon Mokas, a representative of the Consulate General of Greece in Odessa, Ms. Ilona Pukaliak, the Third Secretary of the Representative Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in Odessa, Ms. Stavroula Fotopoulou, Head of the Department of Modern Cultural Heritage of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports, Ms. Valentyna Teleutsia, Deputy Director of the Ukrainian Center for Cultural Research of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, Ms. Tetiana Markova, Director of the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Odessa City Council and Ms. Valentyna Vitos, a national expert on intangible cultural heritage and Director of the Odessa Regional Center for Ukrainian Culture.
