The Branch of the Hellenic Foundation for Culture, in collaboration with the Cultural Foundation “Panagiotis Giannakos” (Greece) and the XOTARIS Gallery (Crete, Greece) is calling for participation in the XXIII contest of children’s art on the theme “Great Greeks of All Times”.

Contest theme: “Great Greeks of All Times”.
Artistic works submitted for the contest must demonstrate the author’s personal knowledge and understanding of the deeds and merits of a Great Person from a plethora of renowned Greek scholars, militaries, public figures, sages, poets, priests, heroes in the struggle for independence and the like personalities who “have been marching through ages…” (B. Russel) to fulfil “the highest Hellenic mission – to combine courage and knowledge …” (N. Kazantzakis).
Nikos Kazantzakis (1883-1957) is the most renowned Greek writer of the Modern period, a poet and dramatist, the International Peace Prize Winner (1956). The year of 2017 was declared in Greece the Year of Nikos Kazantzakis.
Techniques and dimensions:
Any material and techniques will be accepted. The works may be executed in any artistic genre including, but not limited to, painting, engraving, graphics, ex-libris and collage. The size of the submitted works must not exceed one-half of А-1 format. On the reverse side, the works must contain the author’s name, age, address and telephone number and the name of the author’s teacher.
Attention!!! The work’s title must be written on the front side.
Eligible age: 6 to 15
Please submit your works from March 12 to March 16, 2018 to the Branch of the HFC (20 Krasny provulok, Odessa)
Jury:
Jury will comprise well-known experts in the fields of arts, culture and education as well as representatives of the Branch of the Hellenic Foundation for Culture.
Three first prize awards
Three winners of the first prizes of the age 9-12 will be awarded with a 10-day vacation on the island of Crete (Greece).
Six incentive prizes will be awarded for:
– idea
– fantasy
– originality
– expressiveness
– technique
– thematic comprehensiveness
One prize will be awarded to a group, organization or individual teacher for a collection of submitted works
Diplomas and gifts will be presented to children of age 5-6 for works selected by the jury.
The Award Ceremony will be held March 24, 2018 at the Branch of the Hellenic Foundation for Culture.
The exhibition of selected works will open at the Branch of the Hellenic Foundation for Culture starting March 24, 2018

– Submitted works usually are not returned to their authors
