The Branch of the Hellenic Foundation for Culture in Odessa together with the Panagiotis Giannakos Cultural Foundation (Greece) and XOTARIS Gallery (Crete, Greece) is announcing the 21st Children’s Contest for the best work in painting and drawing on the topic of “ My favourite Greek hero” (November 2016 – March 2017).

Contest’s topic: My favourite Greek hero
The works must represent the artist’s personal perception of a particular hero. The work’s title and the author’s answer to the question of why the character is your favourite hero must be written on the back side of the painting.
Techniques and dimensions:
There are no specific requirements as to techniques and materials to be used. We accept various kinds of arts: paintings, etchings, graphics, bookplates, collages and any other work of a child’s inspiration.
Dimensions: no more than ½ of А-1.
The works must be signed on the back side only and contain information about of the title, the artist’s name, age, address, telephone number, and the name of a mentor.
Eligible age of contestants: 6 to 15 y.o.
Submission of works: From March 6 to March 15, 2017 at the Branch of the HFC (20 Krasny Provulok, 65026, Odessa)
Jury:
The Jury is composed of renowned painters, graphic artists, art teachers and the staff of the Branch of the HFC.
Awards of first three prizes:
The awardees of the first three prizes in the age category from 9 to 12 will go a on 10-day educational trip in the island of Crete.
Five honourable mention prizes with diplomas will also be granted for:
– ideas
– imagination
– originality
– expressiveness
– technique
Two additional prize awards:
– One prize and a diploma will be granted to a group, an organization or a mentor for the collection of works presented to the contest.
– One Diploma will be given to the youngest artists participating in the contest.
Other awards and presents:
Following the established tradition, these will be awarded to 5 children, whose works will be selected as the best ones among artists younger than 7 years of age.
The Award Ceremony will take place at the Branch of the HFC on March 23, 2017
Exhibition of the best works will be opened at the Branch of the HFC (20 Krasny Provulok) on March 23, 2017
Note:
The works submitted for the contest will not be returned. No complaints as to decisions made by the jury will be accepted.
